Patient SI presented for LANAP surgery on September 12, 2014. Tooth #19 was slated for extraction by her restorative dentist when she initially presented for a consult. The tooth had no mobility but probing depths ranged to 10mm to the apex of the distal root. Radiographic bone loss appeared to wrap around the apex onto the mesial aspect of the distal root.
LANAP protocol was followed including occlusal adjustment. The total energetics involved in this procedure was 274 J. As this was my first case in private practice and the patient understood that if this did not work, I was prepared to remove #19 and bone graft the area at my cost. Eventually we would provide her a single implant, as her options were limited given the terminal placement of this tooth in her arch.
The following two x-rays show the 9/12/2014 day of surgery and a 4 month healing in January 2015. As it is still early in the healing process, more growth is expected. The relevant information is that even at this early point in the healing process there has been significant gain in new attachment and soft tissue resolution. This patient will be followed and the relevant films will be published in 6-12 months time.
